Piano is a full year course at MHS. The class is capped at 8 students. Priority will be given to music students wanting a career in music. If chosen to be in this class, you will be required to purchase a piano book that will be yours for the year. About every two months, students share what they have been working on with other members of the class. Once in the fall, and once in the Spring, students are given a "jury" similar to what would occur in college where they perform their pieces for a panel of judges. Judges give hand written feedback for students as a final exam.
AP Music Theory is one of the hardest AP classes given. The test at the end of the year consists of the ability to not only analyze music, but also write music, hear music, and read music. Priority is given to students that are wanting to major in music in college.
Once enrolled, students will be given log-in information for an online textbook that will be utilized throughout the year.
